This is education, not advice

The information here is written for the general reader and does not replace a personal medical consultation. It cannot tell you whether a patterned resurfacing course is appropriate for your skin, your health or your circumstances.

No outcome is guaranteed

No treatment can be guaranteed. How much one session changes, how the skin colours as it heals and how many sessions a course takes vary between individuals, and no clinician can promise a particular result. The honest judgement of a fractional course is made in months against photographs rather than in the days after a single session.

The healing and the risks are real

Each session leaves the skin red, warm and visibly patterned for days, with flaking and pinkness afterwards, and the weeks between sessions carry restrictions on sun exposure. The treatment carries genuine risks including infection while the columns are open, cold-sore reactivation, a visible border where treated skin meets untreated skin, acne flare and pigment change in both directions.

The change is incremental, and it is not permanent

A fractional course improves the surface of the skin in steps and does not stop ageing, does not lift tissue that has descended, and is not a facelift. The improvement fades gradually over years, and how quickly depends far more on sun exposure afterwards than on which device was used.
